Ayo Indonesia, the Flores Organisation for Rural Development, is a registered Lembaga Swadaya Masyarakat (LSM) or Non Governmental Organisation (NGO) based in the kabupaten or regional district of Manggarai and West Manggarai, Flores. Ayo Indonesia implements various rural development projects in these two districts.
Our vision is: “Manggarai Sehat – Cerdas”
The mission can be translated in a healthy and educated Manggarai. We
envision a Manggarai area with a healthy and inclining educated population. An
educated population will be able to understand the basic healthcare problems of the
area and act accordingly. In our vision, education and healthcare are
interconnected problems, but they can also prove to be the solution for the current
problems in Manggarai.
Rowdy Boeyink visited our project site, financed by a Dutch foundation. The project aims at supplying sufficient drinking water to some seventeen communities (or kampongs) near Ruteng. The project is carried out by AYO Indonesia (a local NGO) and the Good Shepherd Sisters. His task was to report on the progress of the project and on the spendings of the money.
